Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus Preview
This is an unexpected move from Square-Enix. Dirge of Cerberus is not a
traditional Final Fantasy game; it is mostly a shooter with some RPG
elements implemented. There are two types of perspectives in the game
- one is a third-person view use for exploring, another is a Resident
Evil 4 style over-the-shoulder view, which is used for shooting.
The graphics do look impressive, especially the opening FMV seen in the
trailer. Vincent jumps into action, shoots a number of soldiers all in
succession while doing a number of flips, jumps and impressive moves.
The first impressions of the game though? Well, it does look slightly basic
- it seems all you do is just run around shooting, although I have yet
to play it I suppose. You'll definitely be able to upgrade your gun to
all sorts of deep levels, and hopefully it'll be as long and as epic as
it's counterpart.
But can Square-Enix manage to make a good shooter and justify using the
famous PSone game? Guess we'll have to wait and see. |
